The Catering Team

Today, my DSH and I catered the annual business meeting for Global Renewal, in Boiling Springs, PA. We love taking part in this our yearly tradition because the menu always rocks.

Here’s our menu:
Garden Salad
Filet Mignon and my DSH’s very own crab cake, Rosemary Red-Skinned Potatoes, Asparagus with homemade Hollandaise Sauce
Plain or Chocolate Cheesecake with Wild berry or Chocolate Sauce
Fresh Brewed Iced Tea
Hot Tea and Coffee

Is your mouth watering yet?

Jessie Owens (the founder of Global Renewal) is such an inspiration to me. I love watching him interact with people. He never has anything bad to say about anyone. He always finds the best in people and tells them. He definitely has the gift of encouragement!

It is my prayer that I would become more like him. So often I just blurt out something that I am thinking and then later regret it. I long to get to the point where I don’t have to be afraid to open my mouth and have something that tears people down come out.

This reminds me of one of my favorite verses: Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only that which is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Free on Friday

I must be on a Walmart kick this week. Here's a freebie from them. Don't worry, it really works. I have received numerous things from them for free. Also, they update their freebies periodically.

Have fun!

My Talented Family

Last night at church, the elementary kids had a talent show. Shadow and Girly Girl decided to join in on the fun.

Shadow wanted to be his normal funny self and tell jokes. After each joke he squeezed his rubber chicken and this awful sick chicken sound came out of it. The kids were roaring with laughter.

Here they are:
1. Why did grandma put roller skates on her rocking chair?
Because she wanted to rock and roll.

2. What kind of shoes do snakes wear?
Snakers

3. If you had 50 seconds to live and 50 cents, what would you buy?
A roll of Life Savers

4. What do you call a cow with no legs?
Ground beef

5. What do you call a chicken running down the road?
Fast food

Girly Girl played and sang a song that she wrote on her guitar:

Jesus
You are Holy
Jesus
You are with me
You'll never let go of me
Cuz I know you're with me
You'll never go away
I know that God's here with me.

Let me tell you, I was so proud of her. She really didn't prepare that much for it. All she did was pray and ask Jesus to give her the words to a song and that is what came out of her mouth. The awesome thing is that not only did the words make sense, but she also had a cool melody line.

A Great Gift Idea

Shadow and Jumper

Today I have a great gift idea for you. A few weeks ago, one of our little neighbor boys told us about a great website for kids. www.webkinz.com

Here’s how it works. The child gets a stuffed animal called a Webkinz and then enters the code found on the animal’s tag. The child is able to adopt their animal and take care of it just like it was a real animal. With their adoption, the child is given a 1 year subscription to the website. In addition to taking care of the pet, the child has access to kid-friendly games.

To find where Webkinz are sold near you, visit www.webkinz.com and type in your zip code. When I first heard about the site I thought the animals were going to be outrageously priced but I was wrong. I found a store near me that sold them for $7.99 & $9.99. At this price, Webkinz are a great gift of birthdays or holidays.

Shadow finally saved up enough money to buy himself one. Today we are the proud owners of Jumper the Tree Frog.

The Favor of God

Yesterday after church, my Dear Sweet Husband (DSH) and I and the kids went to visit Pappys & Nana (DSH's father & mother). We had such a good day visiting them. They are genuinely the most generous people I have ever met!

While we were there, Pappys wanted to take us to see the brand new Walmart that opened near them on March 15th. Let me tell you, having a Walmart or any store, for that matter, is a HUGE deal for them. They live in a part of PA where there is absolutely NOTHING around them except for Amish farms. So like any other good kids we went to check out this Walmart.

We got there and Pappys took the kids to the toy section while DSH and I had a chance to walk around by ourselves. It was an awesome 15 minute date! My DSH and I have just recently painted our bathroom so we were looking for new towels and washcloths to match. We chose the towels and washcloths and went to see if Pappys had survived the toy section.

After we had made the whole rounds of the store and Pappys stopped and talked to just about everyone there, (you know when you are in a small town when you know everyone in Walmart!)it was time to pay.

DSH got out his credit card and paid the bill. Only then did I realize that our hand towels came up the wrong price. Walmart wanted us to pay $3.42 each for a $1.38 hand towel. Well, we calmly walked to customer service to rectify this problem. We were able to show the love of Jesus to the associate working customer service because she was not at all happy. Walmart's policy is that if the rung up price is different from the shelf price, you get the item free if it is less than $3.00 or get $3.00 off of the price. The not happy associate did not believe us. So, she made a price adjustment and charged us the shelf price. We said thanks and went off to find the manager.

We told the manager our situation and she said "Yes, that is the policy." Long story short...we got 2 free hand towels from Walmart yesterday!!!! I know what you are thinking. It was only 2 dollars, that's a lot of trouble for 2 dollars. If you know me at all, you know that I love to get free stuff!

God finds little ways to bless us. I appreciate each and every one!

About a year ago I first found out about Walmart's policy. I stopped in one day for a loaf of bread and was charged the wrong price. I went to customer service and was told of the policy and was handed all of my money. Every few days after that I would go back to Walmart for another loaf of bread. Before they decided to change the shelf price I ended up with over 20 loaves of free bread!!!! That is why I get so excited about free stuff!

I am blessed and highly favored!

Singing Sunday

A couple days ago while I was painting our bedroom, I had the iPod on shuffle. Usually the iPod isn't to friendly with me and it plays all the songs that my dear sweet husband loves. But for some reason the iPod was playing great stuff. One of the songs it played was "Feel It All" by Margaret Becker. Here are the words...

I think I heard Your voice floating on the evening wind
And felt You near again in the touch of a friend
this life as it should be. This is life complete,
Cracking the surface of every breath and finding You there in the center of it

In the beauty of the morning
In the rhythm of the rain
In the symphony of laughter as it plays across a face
In the colors of creation
Painting sunsets in the fall
I want to feel it all.

Been living so close to the skin trying to feel everything.
I’ve been digging down so deep, looking for eternal things.
I prayed a prayer to be wise,
To see it all with Your eyes,
For ears to hear
And a heart to seek
And the gift to find all the treasure you leave.

In the beauty of the morning
In the rhythm of the rain
In the symphony of laughter as it plays across a face
In the colors of creation
Painting sunsets in the fall
I want to feel it all.

What is life if not to see Your spirit passing by?
What is love if not to leave the imprint of your touch.
I think I see it.

In the beauty of the morning
In the rhythm of the rain
In the symphony of laughter as it plays across a face
In the colors of creation
Painting sunsets in the fall
I want to feel it all.

In the fury of the ocean
On a stormy winters day
In the choir of the angels as they dance upon the waves
In the colors of creation
Painting sunsets in the fall
I want to feel it all.

That is my prayer. To see it all with the eyes of Jesus. To see what He sees. To hear what he hears. To be so deeply in love with Him that I never take thinks like the ocean's waves or a snowstorm for granted. Jesus is such an awesome Creator!
